Davis Polk advised Nikko Asset Management Co., Ltd. (Nikko AM) on its acquisition of DBS Asset Management (DBSAM). The acquisition makes Nikko AM the largest regional asset management company headquartered in Asia, with assets under management of over $165 billion, based on June 30, 2011 figures.
Davis Polk also advised Nikko AM on the acquisition by DBS Bank Ltd (DBS), the former parent of DBSAM, of a 7.25% interest of the enlarged Nikko AM as part of a strategic alliance with DBS.
With a history of over 50 years, Nikko AM offers a variety of investment products to meet the needs of investors in Japan and elsewhere in the Asia-Pacific region. DBSAM is one of the largest and most experienced asset management companies in Singapore, Southeast Asia and Hong Kong.
