Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised German DAX30 company Merck KGaA on the sale of its Discovery and Development Solutions (DDS) business to Luxembourg's Eurofins Scientific.
DDS is part of Merck Millipore, the Life Science division of Merck KGaA, and will operate under the name Eurofins Pharma BioAnalytical Services following the completion of the transaction, which is subject to standard closing conditions. The parties agreed to keep the purchase price confidential.
DDS is a leading provider of bioanalytical testing, early stage discovery services and products to the biopharmaceutical market with 175 employees at sites in St. Charles (Missouri, USA), Dundee (Scotland) and Oxford (England). Eurofins Scientific, with its four business units (food, environment, pharmaceuticals and product testing), is a world market leader in chemical and biological laboratory analysis.
The international White & Case team which advised Merck was led by partners Dr. Stefan Koch in Frankfurt and Carolyn J. Vardi in New York as well as Dr. Alexander Kiefner in Frankfurt. They were supported by New York associate Nicholas Gasbarro and associates Katharina Thumeyer and Vanessa Vieser in Germany, and by London partner Gavin Weir.
