Carey Olsen has advised the owners of international trust business Basel Group ("Basel") in a deal which saw Basel acquired by independent fiduciary and corporate services provider First Names Group.
Basel was established in 1996, has offices in Jersey, Switzerland with associates in Monaco and Mauritius and will shortly establish itself in Luxembourg, and provides a range of fiduciary solutions to a global client base. It employs over 100 staff across these locations.
Post acquisition, First Names Group will have in excess of 400 staff across nine strategic locations. Subject to regulatory approval, Basel will become part of into the First Names Group and will begin operating under the new brand towards the end of 2013.
The Carey Olsen Corporate team was led by partner Mike Jeffrey who was assisted by senior associate James Willmott and associate Bruce Sinclair and advised Basel Group on all aspects of the transaction.
