White and Case LLP represented Empresa de Transporte de Pasajeros Metro S.A. (Metro), the state-owned owner and operator of the subway system in Santiago, Chile, in connection with the USD1.3 billion financing for the construction of new subway lines 3 and 6 and improvements on existing lines.
The financing was a key component in Metro's approximately USD2.8 billion Proyecto 63, which represented the most significant expansion effort since the inauguration of the Santiago subway. Proyecto 63 will add 37 kilometers of track and 28 new stations, nine of which are transfer stations that provide improved connectivity to the existing network. By the time construction is completed in 2018, the ratio of kilometers of track per million residents will jump from 15.0 to 20.4.
